Attention all Moto-curious DIY-ers!

are you :

  • someone that likes to get their hands dirty?

  • keen to make some modifications or do some restorations?

  • new to motorcycling & want to maintain your motorcycle?

  • a seasoned rider but lacking the space and tools to work on your motorcycle yourself?

  • looking to save some money on motorcycle maintenance?

  • wrenching on the side of the road at the mercy of the weather and daylight hours?

  • looking for a space to meet fellow moto-curious folk then share a beer and a chat?

RSW to the rescue

Rising Sun Workshop solves all of these problems. We are a communal DIY workshop located in Newtown, we have the space, the tools, the community as well as being an award winning restaurant open for brunch, lunch and dinner. Our workshop is fully equipped with all the tools you would expect, and a few you wouldn’t. A full list of tools available can be found below. The workshop has 4 bays and a communal bench that fits 2. The space is available for use 7 days a week and you come and do what you know, or learn from us via classes.

Financial Cents & Cost Effective

COVID has had an impact on most households back pocket, and people are looking for creative ways to save money. Being able to maintain your motorcycle yourself is a great way to either reduce the cost of visiting a mechanic or completely remove it all together. The typical inner city mechanic charges approximately $120 an hour plus parts. A full service (brakes, oil, fluids, chain) will cost anywhere from $400 - $600 plus parts. Working on your own bike not only can save money, but is also a great past time and hobby, as you are learning, improving your skills and doing something you enjoy in a social setting.

Book Your Bay Time

Book Your Induction

There are 4 bays that are available to book using our online booking system.  In our experience, everything takes longer than you think! The time you book includes setting up and also packing down and cleaning up, so factor this in as well.  Remember there may be someone booked in after you so keep an eye on the clock and bookings. If no one is booked after you you can keep going.

Inductions are compulsory, we take you through the workshop, tools and how to use them safely. Please book in your induction on a SATURDAY morning at 10am. We have set times for our inductions to minimise disruption to our members. If those times are not suitable, give us a call and we will do our best to accomodate you outside of those hours.
